About The Series

Maddie’s AMI series is inspired by nature, experiences, and memories, as she explores the relationship between home and vacation. This small town has quickly become one of the top vacation spots in the state of Florida, but many still call it home. Maddie created this series of paintings using Anna Maria’s local newspapers, featuring many small businesses and stories unique to the island. Exploring with a muted color pallet, textures, and layering, these elements add to the meaning behind this body of work by highlighting the feeling that Anna Maria gives the locals and its visitors. Featuring imagery of iconic places and wildlife, this body of work was created on recycled wood panels as it furthers the sustainability aspect of the series. Many still call this island home, and although it is now shared with many visitors, this series is a reminder that it will never lose its small island charm that we all know and love.
